Our Q&A With Rosie Nixon

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with for a Q&A with Rosie Nixon, a remarkable author, broadcaster and coach who passionately advocates for women's well-being and inspires them to 'Reinvent midlife with me!'.

Rosie Nixon is former magazine Editor-in-Chief of HELLO! magazine turned Creative Brand Ambassador, where she has worked for over a decade. She is a mother of two and the author of three previous novels, The Stylist (2016) and sequel, Amber Green takes Manhattan (2017), and Just Between Friends (2020).

What has been your career highlight?

'Publishing my first novel, The Stylist, felt like a huge moment for me personally and professionally. I had dreamt of writing a novel from a young age and nothing beats holding the completed work in your hands for the first time. I am currently finishing off my fourth novel and it takes grit and determination - plus a lot of coffee and many late nights! - yet I know it will be worth it. And when the words flow, there is nothing better. If you aspire to write, my advice is just do it - start today, don't overthink it, and keep writing as part of your weekly routine, you'll be surprised how the words soon stack up.'

What is your most marked characteristic?

'I would say I'm a positive person. I believe a positive mindset is one of the greatest tools we have to turn any life eventuality into an opportunity. It's not always easy, and you have to work at it, but it is a possibility no matter what.'

What is your current state of mind?

'Following training to be a life coach last year, I have really worked on my reflective practice and this permeates into all aspects of my life. I feel much more calm, less stressed and self compassionate these days. Giving up striving for perfection also really helped, sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. I now try to talk to myself as I would one of my closest friends, accepting that things won't always go the way I planned in life, and that is okay.'

Which living person do you admire the most?

'My children. I am a mother of two boys and I find their curious minds fascinating. They remind me to never stop learning. I am also a huge fan of Brene Brown and hang off her words with regards to living more mindfully and empathetically.'

Best piece of advice you've been given ?

'My grandmother was one of the kindest, most loving people I have met. She taught me that, at the end of the day, giving love and being loved is all that really matters. Whether that is love for your family, the love of great friends and the love for yourself, faults and all. When things get busy, boil it back down to that.'

How would you describe your style right now?

'I am a huge fan of colour and find wearing bold colours and prints really lifts my mood. I love to dress up, but I'm equally happy wearing a jumpsuit and Gazelles.'

What is your favourite style from the Aspiga summer collection?

'I'm in love with the Broderie Sienna Dress in Cobalt blue - it's become my go-to for summer events as it can be dressed up or down and the colour is so striking.'
