The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Stock Payables and Controller to play a pivotal role in managing stock and supply chain operations within a growing sustainable fashion business.
The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and stock management expertise to optimise inventory, ensure accurate financial reconciliation, and support operational efficiency.
This role is essential to ensuring that Aspiga’s stock control, reporting, and payments processes run smoothly across multiple business channels (retail, e-commerce, wholesale, concessions). The role requires a detail-oriented professional who can balance financial control with operational execution, working collaboratively with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

Stock Management & Reconciliation
• Own the stock figure from both a unit and valuation perspective, ensuring accuracy in all stock transactions.
• Oversee and maintain the Stock Accounts Payable ledger, ensuring invoices are posted and accounted acutely and reconciliations are completed on time.
• Process and manage stock invoices across multiple currencies, reconciling stock payments and foreign currency bank accounts.
• Ensure that stock adjustments, stock movements, and stock counts are properly recorded and accounted for.
• Implement best practices for stock control by maintaining well-organised stock areas and real-time stock records.
• Monitor stock taken for exhibitions, press, and marketing purposes, ensuring proper tracking and return procedures.
• Work closely with the Retail Services Manager and Head of Operations to oversee the annual stocktake report findings to the Head of Finance and account accordingly.
2. Financial & Compliance Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with duty & freight invoices, C79, and VAT postponement statements.
• Review and reconcile stock adjustments in the balance sheet.
• Monitor supplier deposits, ensuring fabric deposits and proforma payments are accurately recorded.
• Assist in cash flow planning, particularly for stock and currency payments.
• Conduct monthly stock reconciliations across all business channels (retail, e-commerce, wholesale, etc.).
• Review Shopify sales by location, ensuring accurate reconciliation with Brightpearl.
3. Operations & Supply Chain Support
• Work closely with the Buying, Design, and Operations teams to provide insights and drive cost-saving initiatives.
• Challenge supplier payment terms where appropriate and support negotiations for better commercial terms.
• Support the Junior Merchandiser & Operations Assistant with fulfilment and stock-related tasks across channels.
• Provide holiday cover for the Head of Operations, ensuring continuity in decision-making.
4. Payments & Reporting
• Prepare and execute payment runs for stock suppliers, maintaining stock schedules and ensuring accuracy.
• Provide forward-planning payment forecasts to finance for cash flow management.
• Generate and reconcile end-of-month stock reports and Bank accounts.
About You (Skills & Experience):
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong financial and stock operations expertise.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• 2–3 years of experience in a similar stock/operations role within retail, fashion, or supply chain.
• Strong analytical and financial reconciliation skills to manage stock control effectively.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments, ideally within a small to medium-sized business.
• Knowledge of multi-currency transactions and reconciliations.
• Experience with stock management software (Brightpearl experience desirable but not essential).
• Ability to work independently and proactively, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills – able to partner with finance, buying, and operations teams.
• Preferred educational background in finance, accounting, stock operations, or business management.
